Messy People, Messy Lives
By Pastor Chad

Okay, Okay, I confess - I am a freak – a neat freak that is. Everything has its place and everything needs to be in order. As a neat freak I initially felt at home when I first started going to church. I enjoyed the church atmosphere because everyone at church just seemed to have it all together (which was contrary to the reality of my own life). Being a neat freak I wanted what I believed they had – a perfect and orderly life. Everyone appeared to have it all together so naturally I felt that they had achieved success where I was struggling. The more my life was out of order - the more I became frustrated with the church.

Even though I was frustrated, I didn't stop seeking and asking questions. Eventually I came to learn that the church is actually a place full of messy people with messy lives. That's the beauty of it really. That's right just a bunch of people with the same junk as you and I. Church is not a place for people who have it all together. Jesus did not come for the healthy rather he came for the sick and messy. Church is a place where people with messy lives come together to wrestle with, search through, and engage the Bible hungry to know God in order to follow Jesus.

The Bridge is a place where messy people with messy lives are always welcome!
