Remember when..
the church dominated the landscape in America. Some would call it the good ol' days. There was a time when the church was the culture in America, when the church had influence but somewhere along the way that all changed. It's not that the church changed but people's perception of the church changed. There are several possible reasons why this occurred, but most likely somewhere along the way someone got hurt or witnessed someone being hurt in the church and so they became disenchanted. Or perhaps they saw people being hypocrites as they said one thing but did the opposite. They forgot that the church is made up of people – people who make mistakes and who aren't perfect. Whatever the reason, the church that was once a dominant part of the culture has now become part of the dominant sub-culture of America. Think about it – across America church attendance is down and fad religions and drugs are on the rise. People are still searching for spiritual truth but oftentimes the Christian church is the last place they turn. This isn't about recapturing the good ol' days because no matter how hard we try those days are gone. It is about recapturing our influence in the community. Jesus said we are to love others and at The Bridge we believe this is the key to regaining that influence. We aren't perfect and we make mistakes but we are committed to loving others – we are committed to loving you.
