Mom

Mom

It was the first time I walked the entire way home from school – I was in kindergarten and we lived about 8 blocks from the school. I had just turned onto our street in which our house was at the very end. From there my Mom could watch me walk the rest of the way home. Being the first time I made the walk by myself my Mother was watching intently and it just so happened that an older boy on his bike approached me and started to threaten and bully me. Little did he know that my Mom was watching – she came running and I am sure she broke the 100 meter record that day. He took off and it was probably a good thing he was on a bike because he just managed to escape my Mom's wrath that day.

Mother's day is this Sunday and while I have numerous stories about my Mom, this one stands out above them all. I think it is one of my favorite because it demonstrates her love and commitment to me as her child. She was willing to do what ever it took to make sure I was taken care of. To me – Mom's are evidence of God's love. Mom's are committed to their children and they love them unconditionally. Likewise God is committed to His children (us) and He too loves us unconditionally. Mom's do everything they can to care for and protect their children and similarly God has done everything to ensure our eternal security.
