Bailout Shmailout
It was ten years before I was born when President John F. Kennedy gave his famous inaugural address where he challenged the American people when he said, “And so, my fellow Americans: ask not what your country can do for you - ask what you can do for your country.” How times have changed! JFK would be appalled if he were alive today. Every where you turn someone is looking for their share of the bailout! Where's my piece of the billions of dollars being shelled out by the government? Let's be honest, I could use a bonus! Regardless of how you feel about the bailout and its use or misuse, it is apparent that our country has placed it's hope in the government and in the institutions of men.
Throughout history there are numerous accounts where government and men have let the people down. I hope that doesn't happen here, but personal agendas, power, and greed tend to get in the way of man's best intentions. Bottom line: people are looking for hope and there is only so much that the government can do. They can only get you so far – you need to have hope in something bigger than man, something bigger than the government. Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans that I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Find out more at The Bridge:
